Process

The first step is an initial consult to discuss the nature of your project, your goals after the work has been edited, the time frame, and other details that will help determine how I can be of service.

After the initial conversation, the process is usually as follows:

  1. Email the document to Kari@LBLedit.com, and I will provide a complimentary sample edit to evaluate the level of edit required, estimate the cost of the project, and show how editing will enhance your work.
  2. If you decide to move forward, you will be sent an agreement that outlines the project and payment terms, along with other items discussed in the initial meeting. A nonrefundable deposit will also be requested to reserve editing time.
  3. The editing begins once the signed agreement, deposit, and latest version of the document are received. A typical copyedit includes at least two reads, per industry standards.
  4. Upon completion of two editing passes, the document will be returned. You review the edits and either make changes based on my feedback or leave a comment if changes are rejected. Then save the document, adding the date to the file name to track the current copy, and return it.
  5. I will review your changes and address any outstanding comments. With each exchange, the date will be added to the file name for proper version control.
  6. The final document will be returned to you with an invoice outlining the total charges and deposit credits.
