Ron Kelemen, author of The Confident Retirement Journey—Your Personal & Financial Road Map
Ron is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM and came to me with a financial planning manuscript he intended to self-publish. He had already lined up a graphic designer to typeset the manuscript and an offset (traditional) printer to print the book. He also planned to offer his book in digital format. Ron’s book incorporated various tables, worksheets, and graphics and contained several references to outside materials.
In addition to checking grammar and spelling, I made suggestions to improve flow and clarity and reorganized a key chapter that walks readers through a formula to find their retirement figure. I also created a style sheet to ensure consistent terminology and capitalization style. After the copyediting phase was complete, I worked with the graphic designer after the manuscript was converted to a printer-ready format and proofread the final PDF before it went to print.
Ron has done an exceptional job marketing his book, and it is a smashing success with reviews in the Wall Street Journal, the Oregonian, the Statesman Journal, among several other publications. It made Amazon’s Top 10 Financial Planning Books in July 2014, and NextAvenue.org and Forbes.com have run excerpts.
